Sue met with the plastic surgeon today who performed her DIEP Flap reconstruction surgery after the double mastectomy. He said everything had healed very nice and was happy with the results.

Anytime you have this type of reconstruction surgery, a second surgery is usually performed six months later for sculpting. The six months allows time for the implanted tissue to develop new blood vessels and heal properly before being shaped into the desired size and form. The sculpting surgery is schedule for May 14th as an outpatient surgery, so Sue will be able to go home later that day.
